If you’re visiting Miami for the first time, this sun-soaked city offers much more than just beautiful beaches. I’ve put together this 3-day Miami itinerary (with an alternative for Day 3 or an added Day 4) to help you hit the must-see spots without stressing over what’s actually worth your time.
Some covers the classic tourist attractions (because yes, some are genuinely awesome) while mixing in local secrets and travel tips to make the most of your time here.
Day 1: City Exploration
Explore Wynwood Arts District [on a Golf Cart]

Kickstart your Miami adventure at the creative and colorful Wynwood Arts District. While you can do this on foot, one of the most fun way is to take a golf cart instead. They zip you around all the best murals and street art to save time and see more stuff. Mornings usually create a better lighting for getting some Instagram worthy shots without the crowds.
If you choose to go with a tour, it typically last about an hour. The most valuable takeaway is the solid overview of everything. You will learn more about the artists and what they’re trying to express in each piece, and how this neighborhood transformed from a warehouse district to the current open-air gallery.
Quick tip: Book this tour in advance and get a morning schedule to beat both the heat and the crowds.
Visit the Wynwood Walls

You don’t want to miss out on the Wynwood walls in this district. This gallery is filled with giant, colorful murals from artists all over the world. They say it’s the greatest collection by far.
If you did the golf cart tour prior, you will only passby this area. You can revisit to enter after. Otherwise, drop by this spot when looking around the district. To avoid waiting around, it’s smart to grab your tickets online before you go.
Skinny Louie nearby is a popular place to grab a snack if you’re hungry while exploring. It’s a laid-back burger joint that locals love, especially for their juicy smash burgers. But I do recommend saving your stomach for the next activity.
Join the Little Havana Food and Walking Tour

- Distance between Wynwood Walls: 12 minute drive
If it’s your first time in Miami, you absolutely gotta experience Little Havana. And food tours are one of my favorite ways to explore a city or district.
This food tour takes you through the heart of the neighborhood, giving you a taste of authentic Cuban cuisine while soaking in the lively, colorful vibe all around. You’ll hit up spots for legit Cuban sandwiches, crispy empanadas, and tiny shots of cafecito that pack a serious punch.
The tour also weaves in local landmarks like Domino Park, where you’ll catch longtime residents locked in intense domino matches.
It’s a popular tour that tends to fill up fast, so booking ahead is definitely the way to go if you want to secure a spot. And since you’ll be walking a lot, make sure to wear comfy shoes so you can enjoy the stroll without any sore feet.
Relax at Bayside Marketplace

- Suggested Time: 4:00 – 5:30 pm
- Distance between Little Havana Tour site: 9 minute drive
After filling up in Little Havana, head to Bayside Marketplace to walk it off and do some shopping. This waterfront market has got everything from souvenir shops to local boutiques, plus killer views of all the fancy yachts in the marina.
There’s also food options here but save them for dinner. The place is definitely considered touristy, but the vibe is fun and it’s the perfect spot to chill and digest for a bit before your next adventure.
Ride a Speedboat
- Location: Thriller Miami Speedboat Adventures 401 Biscayne Blvd T5880
- Suggested Time: 6:00 – 7:00 pm
- Distance between Bayside Marketplace: 2 minute walk
Now here’s where things get speedy exciting, hop on one of those speedboats to zoom around Biscayne Bay. These boats literally drift and spin while pumping music, and somehow you still get to see all the mansions on Star Island where celebs live.
The 45-minute ride gives you awesome views of the Miami skyline that you just can’t get any other way. Plus, there’s something about the wind blowing in your hair and that golden hour lighting that makes the whole experience next level.
Secret tip: Book this one ahead of time and grab seats way up front if you wanna stay dry. If you wait till the last minute, you’ll end up in the splash zone at the back. Though honestly, getting a little sprayed feels pretty refreshing in the Miami heat.
After your speedboat adventure, head back to Bayside Marketplace for dinner. The waterfront restaurants here are perfect for watching the sunset while you eat. You’ve got options from casual to fancy, so pick whatever matches your vibe.
Day 2: Nature Exploration
Tour the Everglades

- Suggested Time: 8:00 am – 1:00 pm
We’re going to rise and shine early for this one to save ourselves from the afternoon heat. An excursion to the Everglades is a must-do Miami experience and shows you another side of what Miami has to offer.
You will take these airboats which literally glide over grass and water while you spot gators sunning themselves just feet away. The morning tours usually get more wildlife since the animals are active before the serious heat hits. The guide will also help point out birds, reptiles, and plants you’d never notice on your own, plus share stories about this crazy unique ecosystem.
The full tour includes transportation from Miami, the airboat ride itself, and usually some kind of wildlife show where you might even get to hold a baby gator. And hey, they offer hotel pickup and drop-off options too, so you can pick whatever works better for your situation. Just make sure you put on sunscreen and bug spray, the Everglades is no joke when it comes to sun and mozzies.
Planning Tip: Book this tour super early to lock in your spot since they fill up quickly, especially during peak season.
Visit the Popular South Pointe Beach

- Distance between Everglades Tour site: 14 minute drive
After your Everglades adventure, head to South Pointe Beach for a relaxing time. This spot at the very tip of South Beach has gorgeous views even though it’s still packed with plenty of tourists like the rest of the area. You can’t really escape that.
The water here is crystal clear, and you get these perfect views of cruise ships passing through Government Cut. Spend a couple hours just lounging, swimming, and recovering from your early morning.
You can swing by La Sandwicherie nearby for a quick bite if you’re hungry. This tiny French style sandwich spot is quite a local fave especially for beach-goers.
Join an Art Deco Tour
- Location: 1001 Washington Ave, Miami Beach
- Suggested Time: 4:00 – 6:00 pm
- Distance between South Pointe Beach: 8 minute drive
Once you’ve recharged, it’s time for a walking tour of South Beach’s iconic Art Deco district. These pastel-colored buildings with their neon signs and geometric designs are basically Miami’s architectural calling card.
The guide will take you along Ocean Drive and Collins Avenue, pointing out the most significant buildings and sharing stories about Miami Beach’s wild history from Prohibition-era speakeasies to celebrity scandals and the area’s massive revival.
The 4 PM timing is perfect because the afternoon light makes those colorful buildings pop even more, and you’ll finish just as the neon starts lighting up for the evening. Definitely reserve your spot for this one ahead of time though, they tend to book up super quick.
After which you can hit up dinner in the surrounding area and check out the neon lighting scene. Photography enthusiasts will definitely enjoy this part.
Day 3: Outside The City
Option 1: Key West Day Trip

If you’re up for an epic day trip, the journey to Key West is absolutely worth the early wake-up call. This 15-hour adventure takes you on one of America’s most scenic drives. The Overseas Highway with its 42 bridges connecting the Florida Keys.
Once in Key West, you’ll have several hours to explore this quirky island town. Must-dos include the Southernmost Point Buoy, Hemingway House with its six-toed cats, and Duval Street’s legendary bars and shops. When booking, you can select which activities interest you most – just be sure to reserve in advance.
Make sure to catch the sunset at Mallory Square, it’s basically a nightly festival with street performers and everyone cheering as the sun dips into the Gulf of Mexico.
Quick tip: This is a LONG day, so dress comfy, bring a neck pillow for the bus, and maybe download some podcasts or movies for the ride. The views are stunning, but 4+ hours each way means you’ll want some entertainment.
Option 2: Miami Local Treasures
If that Key West journey sounds too intense or if you’ve a 4th day to spare, here’s an amazing alternative day around Miami proper.
Go Snorkeling at Biscayne National Park

Start your morning with a 3.5-hour snorkeling adventure in Biscayne National Park. Most people don’t even realize Miami has a coral reef you can explore just offshore. The tour takes you by boat to the reef where you’ll spot colorful fish, maybe some rays, and the occasional turtle if you’re lucky. There’s also options for cruises or kayaking instead.
Since the park is a bit outside the city, it’s a good idea to grab a solid breakfast before heading out so you’re not running on empty. When booking your tour, check the site for the Homestead pickup option, which tends to be the most convenient meeting point if you’re coming from Miami.
Pack tip: Bring an underwater/waterproof camera if you have one. The views are definitely something you’ll want to capture.
Explore Vizcaya Museum and Gardens

- Suggested Time: 3:00 – 5:00 pm
- Distance between Biscayne National Park: 46 minute drive
After lunch, spend a couple hours exploring this ridiculous Italian Renaissance-style villa built in the early 1900s. Vizcaya is basically a European palace dropped into the tropics, with 34 decorated rooms and 10 acres of formal gardens. The place is packed with charm, from vintage furniture to intricate details that make you feel like you’ve time-traveled.
The photo ops here are insane, with stone grottos, elaborate fountains, and perfectly manicured gardens overlooking Biscayne Bay. It’s a popular spot, so it’s worth reserving your tickets in advance.
End the Day at Little Havana

- Distance between Vizcaya Museum and Gardens: 12 minute drive
Head back to Little Havana, but this time to experience its legendary nightlife. Start with a stroll down Calle Ocho as the neighborhood shifts into evening mode. Pop into a few of the cigar shops where you can watch skilled torcedores hand-roll cigars using traditional techniques that have been passed down through generations.
Plenty of options here for dinner. You can revisit spots you liked during the food tour or Versailles is another place that’s been serving up classic Cuban dishes for decades If you’re in the mood for something a little quieter, La Carreta down the street is another solid option.
After you’ve eaten, head over to Ball & Chain for live music and good vibes. This historic spot has seen legends like Billie Holiday take the stage, and it’s a nice place to sip a mojito while watching the locals tear up the dance floor.
Your Perfect Miami Wrap-Up
Remember that this itinerary is a rough guide to set your foundation and you can always adjust it to fit more of what you like. Most importantly, explore at your own pace because it can get tiring if you’re just rushing around.
