Naples is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful cities in all of Italy. Located right off of the Gulf of Naples, one of the best things about this city is that you have endless options of incredible Naples beaches to enjoy. It can be overwhelming to figure out which of the many beautiful beaches in Naples to spend your vacation.

So, we’ve put together our top 13 favorite beaches in Naples Italy to try to help you out during your next holiday.

The Beach in Naples Closest to the City

Mappatella Beach

The beach in Naples Italy that is closest to the city center is Mappatella Beach. Just 10 minutes away from Naples itself, Mappatella is a popular and free beach. It is perfect for taking a break from exploring the historic city, soaking in the sun, and dipping in the Mediterranean.

One of the best things about Mappatella Beach is that it doesn’t get very crowded. Most people will spend their beach day at one of the more famous beaches in Naples, leaving this to be a peaceful paradise. Mappatella is also right in front of Villa Comunale di Napoli, which is one of Naple’s largest and most beautiful parks.

If you’re interested in staying near the beach while in Naples, then you should consider Partenope Relais for your accommodation. This outstanding hotel is just a twelve-minute walk from the beach and is right at the edge of the incredible park. It is actually a cinema-themed hotel, with each room’s decorations inspired by a famous film.

The Local’s Favorite Beaches in Napoli

Bagno Elena 

This sandy beach in Naples has been a local’s and tourist’s favorite since it opened back in in 1840. Bagno Elena has many popular attractions including 17th century Palazzo Donn’Anna which is absolutely worth exploring.

This is one of the more popular beaches in Naples, it can get very crowded so it’s best to plan to get there earlier in the day. Bagno Elena is a private beach, with sunbeds and umbrellas spread out along the long stretch of sand. There is only one café on the beach which is known for being on the expensive side. Therefore, this is the perfect beach for either a splurge or a picnic!

You’ll notice that the beach is divided into three sections: the center is for a younger crowd and water sports, since the shore gets deep fairly fast and the waters can get a bit rough. On both ends there are wider shallows that are perfect for families.

If you are interested in staying directly next to Bagno Elena, then you should consider La Stella dei Venti B&B. Each room has a balcony with a sea view, air conditioning, and all the modern amenities you could desire. Only a two-minute walk from Bagno Elena, this Bed and Breakfast is perfect for your next beach day in Naples.

Spiaggi delle Monache Beach

Another one of the local’s favorite beaches is Spiaggia delle Monache Beach and it is only 30 minutes outside of the city of Naples. This somewhat hidden beach can also only be accessed by boat, but it is very easy to rent kayaks or get a water taxi from all nearby ports.

Here you’ll be able to relax below towering cliffs while swimming in the calm waters. There are no restaurants or stands where you can purchase sunbeds so be sure to pack a picnic and bring your own gear for this hidden Napoli beach.  

While you’re exploring one of the most beautiful beaches in Naples Italy, you may want to consider staying in the area for a few days. The Best Beaches in Naples for Water Sports

Giaola Beach

One of the most popular beaches in Naples is Giaola Beach. Especially popular for snorkeling, Giaola Beach has an incredible view of two unique islands that you can actually swim to.

There are two sections, both of which are free. There is Zone A, which is actually a protected nature preserve, and Zone B which is limited to 100 visitors per day. It is definitely smart to get there early, as it does get crowded and there is a cut-off for half of the beach. Giaola Beach is easily one of the most beautiful beaches in Napoli.

Since Giaola Beach is a thirty-minute drive from Naples, you should consider staying at La Casetta di Posillio to get the best experience out of your day at Giaola Beach. This property is a ten-minute drive from the beach, which is basically as close as you can get to Giaola Beach since it is entirely surrounded by nature. This apartment is outfitted with all modern amenities, has a patio with incredible garden views, and everything you could need for your Napoli vacation.

Miseno Beach

This very long stretch of sandy beach is a perfect location for most water sports and is a great choice if you’re looking for one of the best beaches in Naples. Miseno is located in Bacoli, is just under an hour outside of Naples, and is lined with many beach clubs to choose from.

At each of the clubs, you can rent beach gear, swimming gear, and water sports gear. You will also have many restaurants and bars to pick from. Miseno’s shallow shores make it a great spot for families with young kids, but keep an eye out if it’s getting too crowded as the water does get busy.

If you would like to get to Miseno beach as early as possible, then you can stay at Hotel Villa Del Mare, which is just a two-minute walk from the sandy beach. Most rooms have balconies and beautiful views of the Mediterranean, Procida Islands, and Mount Vesuvius. You will definitely have every amenity you could need at Hotel Villa Del Mare.

Scoglione Di Marechiaro

This Napoli beach is known for its crystal clear, calm waters, making it one of the best beaches in Naples for swimming. Scoglione Di Marechiaro is entirely free, but they do have a limit on how many people they admit in a day, so try to get there early to secure a spot!

This is actually a Volcanic rock beach, making it one of the more unique beaches in Naples. You do have to plan ahead a bit though, as Scoglione Di Marechiaro can only be reached by boat, which you can easily access from the Marechiaro Port.

As Scoglione Di Marechiaro is located along the same coast as Giaola Beach, you will see that accommodation directly next to the beach will be hard to find. However, there are several beautiful apartments available to rent for the night that are less than a 10-minute drive from the beach. If you do want to stay close to this beach, consider staying at Residenza Le Rose Villa D’Arte. This property is actually just an 8-minute walk from the beach and has all the comforts you could need during your stay.

Rocce Verdi  

Named after the emerald submerged rocks along the coast, Rocce Verdi is one of the best beaches in Napoli for cliff diving. Located on the rocky, Posillipo coast, Rocce Verdi has two saltwater pools that overlook the Bay of Naples, giving you an absolutely beautiful view of the island of Capri as well as the Sorrento peninsula.

Rocce Verdi is actually known for having one of the best views in all of Naples. You do have to pay an entrance fee, but you then get access to sunbeds and the beach’s anterior cliff. For the adventurous, you can dive off the cliff itself into the two saltwater pools. There are also many activities available – rent kayaks or partake in wellness activities on the beach such as yoga or Pilates.

If you would like to stay right next to Rocce Verdi and have a beautifully unique experience, you should spend at least one night at Residence Posillipo. This breathtaking property is located directly on the water, giving you an incredible view of the Mediterranean. The property has everything you could need, from your own private swimming pool and garden to a modern kitchen and exquisite bedrooms. You can even cliff dive from the rocks beneath this beautiful holiday home.

The Best Island Beaches in Naples Italy

Lido di Procida

If you would like an island experience and a beach day combined, then you should make your way to Lido di Procida. The beach is located on the island of Procida, just off the southwestern shore of Naples, and is known as one of the best beaches in Napoli.

The island is on the ferry route between Naples and Ischia, making it very easy to access. The beach itself is a very sandy, wide beach, providing you with plenty of spots to relax and enjoy the sun. Lido di Procida is known for one of the best sunsets in all of Naples, so you may want to plan ahead and spend the night on the island. It is also best to get there early as it does get crowded quite quickly.

If you want to extend your island trip, then you should consider staying at one of the best hotels on the island. Il Leone Di Mare is just a six-minute walk from the beach, has several pools, a beautiful garden, and all modern amenities within each room.

Spiaggia Dei Pescatori

One of the best beaches in Naples for foodies is Spiaggia Dei Pescatori. As the name suggests, this beach is known as “fisherman’s beach.” Don’t worry, it isn’t actively used by today’s Napoli fishermen, rather it is known as the hub for some of the best seafood in Naples.

This beach is actually located on Forio Island and has some of the best views of Italy from the water. It is still very easy to access, all you have to do is hop on a ferry at Porto di Pozzuoli and you’ll be there in no time! Once you’ve soaked up some sun, dipped in the Mediterranean, and are fully relaxed, you can choose from the many seafood restaurants that line Spiaggia Dei Pescatori.

You should absolutely stay on Forio Island and enjoy more of this beach. You’ll have many options to choose from if you do decide to stay, one of which is the Grand Hotel Punta Molino Terme. Just a one-minute walk from the beach, this hotel has three outdoor swimming pools, a private section of the beach, and a full spa. Each room has a balcony overlooking the incredible views of the island.

Maronti Beach

While it may be a bit further from Naples, this beach is perfect for a day trip. Not only do you get to see more of the surrounding country, but you also get to hop on a ferry and access one of the biggest beaches in Naples.

Maronti Beach has both free and paid areas. You should also explore the Cavascura Natural Springs which are located directly behind Maronti Beach and are just a 10-minute walk away. Enjoy the views of Sant-Angelo across the bay as you soak up the sun or dip in the sea!

The Best Secluded Beaches in Naples

Baia di Leranto

If you’re looking for a more secluded beach in Napoli, then you should make your way outside of the city. Located in the Sorrento Peninusla, Baia di Leranto is about 1 hour and 40 minutes away from Naples but is absolutely worth the trip.

Often referred to as the hidden paradise of the Mediterranean, Leranto Bay Beach is perfect for a relaxing day away from the bustle of the city. You do have to hike down a short cliff, but there is a well-marked trail to help guide you along the way. It is definitely less crowded than other beaches in Naples, but make sure you and your friends or family are up for the hike back up!

Though Baia di Leranto is one of the most secluded beaches in Naples, you can still find incredible accommodation nearby. Relais Blu is a small luxury hotel that is just a ten-minute drive from Baia di Leranto and will provide you with a once in a lifetime experience of luxury and pampering. Enjoy the priceless views, the gourmet restaurant, and private terraces on your next holiday.

Arienzo Beach

A more secluded beach in Naples is Arienzo Beach. In order to access this pristine beach you have to make your way down 300 steps, so many sure you’re ready for the challenge!

This is one of the best beaches in Naples if you’re looking to spend the entire day on the water. You can rent sunbeds as well as all the gear you need for various water sports. You definitely won’t be bored while enjoying your day at Arienzo Beach. It is by far one of the more all-inclusive and widespread beaches in Naples for you to enjoy.

Just a short drive away from this secluded beach is Hotel Marincanto. If you would like to spend a few days in the beautiful area, you should consider staying the night at this beautiful hotel located at the heart of Positano. After your day at the beach, you can wander through nearby shops and restaurants, before enjoying all modern amenities in your luxurious, private room.

Hidden in the Pausilypon Archeological Park is one of the most beautiful beaches in Naples. At the base of a cliff, you will find a secret beach where the creek that runs through the park meets the Mediterranean Sea. You can access Baia di Trentaremi by boat or kayak as it’s too dangerous to traverse down the cliff.

This is one of the best beaches if you’re looking for a quiet day away from the city. What’s even better is the beach is enclosed in a small bay and offers incredible views of the sea, creating the perfect setting for a peaceful day at the beach.  

Since this is a secret beach in the middle of the park, you won’t find accommodation directly on the water. If you want to stay in the area for a day or two, consider staying at Hotel Villa Maria, located just a short drive inland. The hotel is decorated in local Napoli style, providing you will the coastal Italian experience on your next vacation.
