Llangennith is famous among surfers because it is located at the western end of Rhossili Bay, which picks up Atlantic swells and big waves. Brilliant dunes back the beach, and it has a wild feeling. The view at Llangennith is breathtaking because it showcases some of nature’s best finds.

This beach is suitable for watersports, swimming, and sunbathing; however, be careful not to swim in really big waves as there are strong currents. The three miles of sandy beach is one of Gower’s beaches that’s family-friendly and dog friendly, meaning you can spend time with your kids on the beach while your furry friend tag along.

If you have never given surfing a trial, you can give it a try here as there are many surfing schools here that provide lessons during summer. There are places you can grab a bite after a fun day on the beach.

Pobbles Bay Beach

If you want a beach in Gower where you can take in some of the most beautiful views in Gower all the way to Oxwich, this is the ideal place for you. Surrounded by limestone cliffs and sand dunes, this is one of the most beautiful areas in Gower and very popular.

Getting to Pobbles, however, requires some effort because the nearest parking is over a mile away, so if you like adventure, this is great for you. It is worth the effort because you get to take in the beautiful view as you make your way down. The beach is also not as busy as other beaches, meaning you get to spend time in tranquility while taking in the best view.

This beach is suitable for surfing and swimming but be careful at high tides because of strong rip currents. Dogs are permitted all year round; therefore, you can take your dog for a walk here.

Best Beaches In Gower For Family

Oxwich Bay Beach

Oxwich Bay is what you can call the perfect beach for everyone because it has something to offer everyone. The beautiful stretch of golden sand and clear blue water is a wonderful sight to behold. Oxwich is famous among families, and that’s due to a lot of reasons.

There are activities for everyone, even the kids, and the best part is the parking space is directly on the beachfront. Dogs are allowed all year round, meaning your furry friend won’t be left out of all the fun.

This Gower beach gets really busy during summer but eastward towards the end of the beach, which forms part of a nature reserve, is rarely busy. You can kayak, dive, snorkel, jet-ski, sail, swim, surf, or windsurf on this beach.

There are cafes and restaurants on the beach where you can enjoy some fine dining. Oxwich bay beach is a must-visit in Gower, and you can certainly see why.

Caswell Bay Beach

Caswell Bay is one of the most popular beaches in Gower with its large expanse of dark golden sand and blue water. The beach is a favorite among families and water sport enthusiasts. The large sand reduces a lot at high tides and is replaced by natural rock formations.

Remember to go with your bucket and spade because this is an ideal place to build sand castles. Canoeing, surfing, and swimming are some of the things you can do on this beach. At low tides, various rock pools are revealed where you can explore different marine creatures.

If you’re interested in surfing, you can enroll at the surf school on the beach, which provides lessons all year round. Note that Dogs are not permitted on this beach from May 1 to September 30.

Port Eynon Beach

Port Eynon is another of the most popular Gower beaches. You can easily access this beach; it is safe and backed by sand dunes. The almost 1 mile of golden sand and clear water offers a picturesque view.

This beach is famous as it is well-served as Caravan and campsites. There is a small slipway to launch diving and sailing boats. Surfing and swimming are other activities you can engage in here. Aside from building sand castles, kids can also explore rock pools for marine creatures. This is one of the best places to enjoy a day by the sea with your family.

After a day on the beach, you can discover some of the best fish and chips in cafés /restaurants on the beach fronts. Note that Dogs are restricted on some parts of this beach from May 1 to September 30.

Best Dog-Friendly Beaches In Gower For Family

Blue Pool Bay

Blue pool is one of the most beautiful Gower beaches and one of the most secluded and quietest. The beach is quiet primarily because it can only be accessed by foot from Broughton bay. The “Three Chimneys,” which are a unique and naturally formed series of spectacular sea arches, are right on the other side of the beach, giving it a spectacular view.

The beach got its name, the Blue Pool, from a supersized natural tidal rock pool that is up to 5 meters across and 8 meters deep at high tide. The stretch of pristine golden sand here is suitable for building sand castles and sunbathing. This beach is also famous for diving. You can also surf and swim here. Dogs are allowed all year round, meaning you can take your dog for a walk anytime.

Mewslade Bay

Mewslade bay is a beautiful, sandy beach in Gower near the famous Worm’s Head. It has a dramatic backing; high grassy cliffs and knife-edge aretes point skywards, giving it a fantastic view. This beach is difficult to access, making it very quiet and secluded, and few people make it there. You will need to hike and have a short rocky scramble before getting here, but you will be rewarded with one of the best beaches in Gower.

This is the perfect place if you need a quiet beach away from the noise. However, check the tidal tables before visiting this beach because, at high tide, it gets completely submerged. This beach is an ideal spot for surfing and swimming. You can take your dog for a walk here as dogs are allowed all year round. There are no facilities on this beach, so endeavor to go with supplies.

Whiteford Sands Beach

Whiteford Sands beach is a vast sandy beach with dunes backing, and it is located on the north-western tip of Gower. The golden stretch of sand is suitable for kids to run around and build sandcastles. You can see the Whiteford Burrows from the beach, which is a crucial feeding spot for birds and wildfowl.

If you need a beach in Gower where you can be by yourself, the 2 miles long sandy beach is perfect for you. This charming beach is one of the most secluded and deserted beaches in Gower. You can explore rock pools here because where the sand ends, the shores become rocky and covered in seashells.

When swimming here, be extra careful because the currents can be strong along this beach. You can also take your furry friends for a walk and play as dogs are permitted all year. There are no facilities here, so make sure you go with supplies.

Broughton Bay Beach

Broughton bay is one of the most secluded Gower beaches. The large, sandy bay backed by dunes is located on the northern-western tip of Gower. If you want a quiet beach even during summer, Broughton is the beach for you.

There are several small coves at the South end of the bay, which you can access at low tides but can be dangerous at high tides. This beach is ideal for beachcombing, sunbathing, walking, and sandcastle building.

However, this beach is not ideal for swimming and can be dangerous for water sports. This is due to the strong currents from the Loughor Estuary, fast-incoming tides, and shifting sands in the area.

Accessing this beach can be pretty tricky. However, your effort will be rewarded with charming views of this coastline. Note that there are no facilities here, so you need to go with supplies. Dogs are allowed on this beach all year round.
